About Ben Weinstein
Born and raised in Armonk, New York, Ben developed an early interest in fine art, creative writing and video. While attending Cornell University he narrowed his focus to theatre and film, graduating with a full-blown addiction to 16mm filmmaking. After school he honed a funny visual style that landed him the cinematography job on Wet Hot American Summer. He moved to Los Angeles and started directing commercials, quickly landing clients such as Sony Playstation, Apple, Ford, Wrigley’s, Cartoon Network and Moby among others.
His directing career has taken him to Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, developing worldwide relationships with Chiat, BBDO, Publicis and a host of other ad shops. In New York and LA, he has become immersed in the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, studying UCB’s unique curriculum of improvisational theatre, sketch comedy and storytelling. He collaborates with many of the talented sketch and improv teams on each coast including Chubby Skinny Kids, BriTANicK and Tremendosaur.
Ben is based in Chinatown, New York.
